Fall-ing in Love with Autumn Weddings

Summer may be synonymous with weddings, but we couldn’t be more excited for a change in seasons. With a gorgeous blanket of leaves on the ground and a crispness in the air, it’s no wonder more couples are choosing to tie the knot in the fall. And if the romance of the season isn’t enticing enough, we’ve compiled six reasons why we’re Fall-ing in Love with Autumn Weddings.

#1 – The Color

Need we say more? Fall foliage makes the perfect backdrop for any ceremony so it would be silly to stay inside and waste all of that gorgeous color. Plan your ceremony for an hour before sunset in order to capture all of the cozy warmth of the season in your photographs. The soft, golden light is every photographer’s dream. And the cool, comfortable temperatures make outdoor weddings a breeze.

#2 – The Food

Reap the harvest of the season. Buttery squash, tart apples and fresh herbs are the backbone of fall’s best comfort foods. Break out of the traditional chicken, steak or fish entree mold with a hearty pumpkin stew (bonus points if you use tiny pumpkin serving bowls)! Swap your wedding cake for pear tarts and caramel apples. And keep your guests warm with mulled wine and spiked hot chocolate.

#3 – The Decor

Rich, jewel tones are so on trend right now, but they just don’t quite fit with warm summer weddings. Complement the reds and golds of the season with deep purples, blues or greens for added elegance. So take your floral arrangements to a new level with seasonal additions like berries, leaves, grasses and pine cones.

#4 – The Budget

Take advantage of the beauty of the season and keep your decor minimal. Use leaves, gourds, and apples for adorable, and affordable centerpieces. In addition, vendor schedules tend to open up after the summer wedding rush, so there may be some untapped discounts up for grabs. And busy school and work schedules make it easy to trim down your guest list without the guilt.

#5 – The Fashion

Faux fur, velvet bow-ties and plaid flannel are just a few of the fall fashion trends we are loving right now. From long sleeve wedding dresses to bridesmaids in boots, the options are endless!

#6 – The Fun!

Believe it or not, the holidays are right around the corner. Therefore, what better way to kick off the festivities than with a beautiful autumn wedding? Celebrate all things fall with a big bonfire (complete with s’mores) at your reception. Keep your guests cozy and comfortable with blankets at your ceremony. Stir up childhood nostalgia with a horse drawn hay ride. Or welcome the chance to dance the night away without any summer heat to slow you down.
