In the day to day business of wedding stationery, the ever-so-different elephant cards may seem out of place. In reality, what started as a gift turned into a fun way to give to an important cause.
In 2013, I met up with a few amazingly talented actresses from my favorite show, True Blood. Since Kristin Bauer (aka fan-favorite vampire Pam) is such a huge advocate for The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, I created these elephant cards for her as a surprise. She loved them so much that she shared them online. Only then did I realize that we could continue making the cards, raise awareness, and send the proceeds to DSWT.
Founded in 1977, the Kenya based DSWT is one of the world’s most successful elephant rescue/rehabilitation programs. Ivory poaching is still prevalent in east Africa, so the awareness and conservation efforts that DSWT provides are crucial for the survival of these extraordinary species.
In the past year, with the support of many buyers, Marrygrams has fostered over 200 elephants.
